
On February 14, 2023, at Makhinjauri Maritime Lyceum, geography teacher Ekaterine Sirabidze held a lecture-webinar on the topic of natural disasters.
The lecture-webinar was attended by the students and vocational students of Makhinjauri Maritime Lyceum.
At the meeting, they talked about the causes of the earthquake, discussed the consequences of the devastating disaster in Turkey and Syria.
As a result of the February earthquakes, the number of people killed in Turkey reached 41,156. It is not known how many people are considered missing. According to the Turkish government, about 118,000 buildings have been destroyed or seriously damaged. More than 485,000 people have been evacuated from the disaster zone.
The February 6 earthquake also caused casualties and destruction in Turkey's neighboring Syria, where more than 5,000 people died.
